Always Together 18x24

$850.00

16×20 acrylic painting on canvas, custom matted and framed in solid teak wood frame.

—

I painted “Always Together” earlier this year. While painting, I took an in-progress photo, then I kept working.  The last thing I do on these graphic style florals is paint the background. I landed on a mustard color, framed it up, and took it with me to 3 shows. Every time I unloaded it, it bothered me. I’d look at it and wish I loved it as much as I loved it “in progress.” I kept going back to the photo I took and wondering why I loved it unfinished more than I loved it finished. Finally, I decided to unframe it (a process in itself) and repaint the background white. Once I saw it white, I knew that’s how it was meant to be. I had overworked the piece, and that was the problem I had with it as I hung it at each show.

Then there was the mat. White on white just isn’t always my thing. Always together needed more contrast. So I custom-ordered a new one, and here we are.

I hope you read between the lines here. “Always Together” is a metaphor for life. We’re not meant to be done. Sometimes we have to go back and start over. But the most beauty is found in the process. Embrace it.
